Lent at The Parsonage

This year, The Pastor and I decided to turn Lent into a family event. Certainly a 3 year old, 2 year old, and 7 month old can participate this Lenten season, right? As a family, we are giving up eating out. It is something we enjoy, and do more often than I would like to admit. (*coughs* 2 to 4 times a week *cough*) In addition to that, I decided to give up anything carbonated. Here in the land of Coca-Cola, I have become a Coke fiend. Cherry Coke is my main weakness. *sigh* But for the next 46 days, I’ll be abstaining.

Lent only comes around this one time every year. I always try to choose something that is truly a sacrifice. I mean, it wouldn’t do me any good to give up alcohol, since I am a teetotaler by choice to begin with. We considered giving up the cable TV as a family, but I’ve been limiting it so severely anyway, it would make little difference around here.

I pray that your Lenten season brings you closer to the cross. I pray your sacrifices will make a lasting impact on your life. This is life, live wisely.
