This Is The Week!

We still haven’t decided to sneak a peek or not at Charlie’s girl or boy parts. We’re so torn. There are advantages on both sides.

Not finding out advantages:

+Those last few weeks are certainly less stressful on Mom when the baby’s gender is still a surprise. Instead of saying, “Why won’t he just get here already?!” Mom is still wondering if baby is a boy or girl. There is still talk of name possibilities.

+ It is one of the few big surprises in life. The question really is just when you want to be surprised. Now or later?

Find out advantages:

+ We can cut our ridiculously long name list in half and NOT argue over the names of the gender that don’t matter right now. (I can also avoid getting The Pastor sold on a name only to throw it out if we have a next time around.)

+ The kids can go ahead and get used to having a baby brother or baby sister. The baby becomes more real to them, since they know if Charlie is a he or a she. They also have time to deal with any disappointment they might have in the gender before the baby is actually here.

+ People will quit asking me about finding out the gender, since I will have a quick one word answer for their queries.

So, what do you think? I’d also like to say, for The Pastor’s sake, that this poll will not likely influence the decision. If it was entirely up to me, I’d let you decide. So, you get my vote. Unfortunately, he’ll never go along with that and he does get veto power. And you’ve only got today to decide my vote! (And you can vote as many times as you want. I know, not fair, but whatever.)

**Update: When I left for my appointment yesterday afternoon, the totals were: 18 “yes” votes, 13 “no” votes, 1 “I don’t care” vote, and 1 “other” vote. Of course, I forgot to close the poll when I left for the doctor’s office, because, as usual, I was running late. (Or so I thought. Turned out my appointment was at 4:30, not 4:00, so I was on time for once. Maybe that should be my game plan from now on.) So, my vote, according to you, is that we find out. We’ll see what The Pastor says in the morning.
